Create and Be HERE Now: A Mindful Altered Book Worskhop
New Evening Workshop starting in 2010!!
Making art is the perfect way to create and hold onto meaning during tough times. Whether you are bombarded with worries about the economy, the environment, and/or the uncertain future, this workshop is designed to support your re-connection with the things that make life meaningful. Through the creation of your own altered book, you will be invited to abandon yourself in the present moment and to celebrate your experience of those things you hold near and dear.
Each week for 6 weeks, you will be gently invited to explore a different topic and technique. By the end of the workshop, you will have sufficient technical knowledge and the important beginnings of your own altered book journal so that you can continue independent exploration. However, it is likely that you’ll love it so much you’ll want to continue the meetings just like the last altered book workshop did!
6 Wednesday evenings starting January 13, 2010 from 6pm-8:30pm.. Dates are as follows: 1/12, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24, 3/10, 3/31.
$70/week includes materials.
Space is limited to 8 participants.
CEU's are available for MFT's and LCSW's, but you do NOT need to be a therapist to attend.
Payment is required for all 8 sessions, even if you are unable to attend. Payment for the first month will reserve your spot. Then you may pay for all remaining 5 sessions at once or your credit card can be charged after each meeting.
Please read bottom of page for cancellation policy details.
Every Woman is Someone's Daughter: Matrilineal Dollmaking
Doll making invites a sense of play and tenderness and lends itself to the exploration of a potentially challenging and issue laden topic: mothers. In this workshop, participants will use inter-generational photos and multi-media such as fabric, paper, scrapmetal, assorted junk, nature items, paint, etc. to create a grandmother, mother and self doll. We will invite reflection and discussion about the dolls that form. Because of the non-verbal nature of art making, new meanings and discoveries about grandmother, mother and self are sure to be had.
$125 includes materials and 7 CEUs
Space is limited to 8 participants.
CEU's available for MFT's and LCSW's, but you do NOT need to be a therapist to attend.
Special thanks to Arnell Etherington and Sylma Fine for presenting this workshop at the 2007 AATA conference. It was such a valuable experience for me personally, that I decided to share it with others at my studio.
Art as a Path to Self Discovery
This is a powerful group for women who want to explore their creative
process and learn how art can enhance both their personal lives and
professional work.
This group provides the opportunity for women to:
clarify identity |
explore feelings |
affirm passion |
clarify
goals |
increase
awareness |
express
and share |
become
energized |
grow
hope |
find
direction |
increase
trust |
learn
new coping |
feel
support |
make
connections |
multiply
options |
create |
Women in my groups find that setting aside 2 hours a week for the
sole purpose of creating and connecting is transformative.
They express passion and delight at reclaiming a part of themselves that
has been so easily lost in daily life.
Cost is $55 per week which includes a $5 materials fee. You are expected to pay for all weeks, even ones you miss for any reason.
There are CEU's available for this group, but you do NOT need to be a therapist to attend.
Reserve your space: To reserve your spot, you need to make a $45 dollar deposit. This will go toward your first meeting fee. It is not refundable unless I can fill the spot that you leave open. Just click on "add to cart" below and it will take you through the sign up procedure.
This group is currently not begin scheduled. Please call or email with interest so that I can let you know when the next workshp might be scheduled.
